The origin of “The Fourth Estate” to refer to the press, dating from before the French Revolution and its origins in the great power that is exercised over people’s minds. Montesquieu defined the initial three branches-executive, legislature and judiciary, and the arrival of new media such as TV and radio, it seems logical to assume these as part of the fourth estate. But many are hesitant to define the fifth power. Some say that this is the state and power controller, others retain the nomenclature applied to social networks that emerged around the Internet, while some say it is the people.
But what is clear is that we are witnessing the emergence of a “sixth power”, a known unethical “Which does not mean you have it. These are the hackers, or rather of the associations of hackers. The case of Sony and PSN network could be the best example of this newly emerging power. We have already seen what Anonymous is capable of, especially after the scandal breaks out WikiLeaks. They knelt hackers banks that had withdrawn their support to WikiLeaks and other organizations that had turned its back on Assange and friends.
This kind of pressure, completely wrong, can only be exercised on the increase in the future, given the great success achieved by Anonymous. And as is well known that power corrupts, it was about to stop these actions require justification, and are undertaken only to satisfy the ego-or self-interest “of some in particular. Furthermore, these organizations enjoy an almost perfect anonymity, allowing them to act the way they cause.
In a world where the balance of power is essential to avoid anarchy, we see that both organizations can make as Anonymous. And thus speaking of the “Sixth Power” dear reader, you may be hablandodeti, and without being aware of it.
